Oneonta Gorge is an amazing sight to see anytime of the year, particularly fun to visit on the hottest summer days to cool off with a fun hike adventure in the canyon. But in the Spring months, when the rain is pouring down hard, Oneonta Gorge takes on a whole new level of beauty. Countless numbers of waterfalls spring up off the canyon walls, and the water flows many feet higher through the canyon, so the access is not only difficult but dangerous as well. When I made this image, it had been raining hard for a few days so I knew the waterfalls would be flowing, but my goal was to photograph the waterfalls with beautiful light streaming in the canyon. Not an easy task to plan. I stood in this spot for 3+ hours with the camera set up shooting, and was rewarded with this incredible light for about 20 seconds with a quick break in the clouds between downpours of rain.
